Super Easy Reversible Dress for Blythe

Lutz shows you a typical cloche dress for Blythe which is quite easy to make also for beginners. I’ve made a lot of them for my gals because these dressies are so versatile. And because some of you asked me for a super easy but still funky pattern I decided to offer it for downloading. The dress idea is not from me but very common. I just made my own pattern to share with you.

Here we go…

Step One

Download pattern, print and cut it out. Make sure the measures are right. Get your fave fabrics, I recommend light weighted cotton like Melissa of Puchi collective does. It is the easiest to handle, especially for beginners.
Please note: if you want a reversible dress, make sure both sides don’t stain your dolly! Otherwise use a funky fabric for the shell and white lining.
For the neckpiece I recommend beginners to use serging tape. It is available in many colours and super easy to use.

Step Two

Pin the pattern on the folded fabric. I always cut lining and shell together to be sure, they are 100% the same. You must not do this. Then cut fabric out with no seam allowance.

Step Three

Stack right sides together and sew along the dotted lines. Make sure you don’t close the neck/throat part! You need to pull the dress through the hole later ![]()

Step Four

Carefully nip all curved parts and lap all corners.

Step Five

Now follows the tricky part… turn rightsides out. This means you pull the whole dress through the hole of the neck. Be careful, don’t give up. I always pull the bottom through the hole with my finger first, then I use a chopstick to help like Lutz shows you on the picture above.

Pin the tape/ribbon to the neck, fold it (iron if needed) and sew it on. Fray-check the piece left and right or add a tad of textile glue to avoid fraying. Add snaps.

DONE!
Now go on and experiment with stiching, trims, pompoms, flowers, bows. lenghts and so on. Have a lot of fun!

Great idea and such a cute tutorial model too
Oh I LOVE this pattern! I just used it for 2 dresses for a Blythe swap and it is great, just what I needed. My girls are now looking forward to getting some new dresses for themselves. Yay!
