*This tutorial works best for Takara stock Neo Blythes. It won’t work on Kenner or ADG Blythes as they use another glue. Take also attention when your Blythe wears unsealed pastel or another water-soluble make-up (seal it with MSC first) or when she wears eyechips with a not water resistant printed background!*
Do you fancy those thick lashes some Blythes have but you don’t know how to change them without to open the girl’s head!?? Well, let Dr. Jasz inpire you with this little “Change Lashes on Blythe” tutorial
Here we go (please ignore the girl/head is prepared for customising, you can do all the following on your already pretty stock dolly too
– I just don’t have one with stock lashes to be my model)
Material
- cup of hot water
- scissors
- cotton balls
- needle
- new lashes (I prefer human ones)
- *forgot to picture* some tweezers

1. First of all unlock the spring (»click here to see how to unlock the spring) and close her eyes. I recommend that but you can also do all this with her eyes open!
2. There are 2 possibilities… a fast one with the LOW risk of loosing the eyechips or the slow method. I will explain both:
a. The fast one: Take a bowl with hot water and put your girls face in. You can prevent the chips fall out in taking attention that just her eyelids and lashes are in the water
Keep her like this around 3-5 minutes.
b. The slow one: Soak the cotton balls and put them on the eyes for a while (3-8 minutes with hot water should be enough. Don’t extend the time too much, it’s useless and there is always a risk the water rinse into the eyechip)
Let me explain what’s the use of all that: The glue that Takara use for the lashes is water soluble and in putting her head into a bowl of hot water or putting the cotton balls on it, you allow the water to “melt” the glue. So you see it is important that the water can reach the glue which is located in the little slit where the lashes come out. Got me!? I think so!

3. Get your tweezers and pull out the lashes. That should be really easy, you do not have to tear. Sometimes they even fall out without you tweezing!

4. Clean the slit with the needle.

5. Cut human lashes into shape (the lashes’ width shouldn’t be longer than the slit)

6. Put the new lashes into the slit with the help of tweezers and your needle. Most of the time the glue that is on your lashes is enough. To be sure they stay in place put a tiny bit of glue (you can use the one of the lashes) onto the lash band. I never do this and there were no lashes lost so far!

… and you are done!!!

Have fun,
Jasmin
P.S. Even if I wrote this tutorial, I am not responsible for any damage you cause changing your Blythe! This is a recommendation only and it works fine when done with love.

Jasmin
For ADG Blythe I found it was nearly impossible to remove the eye-lashes, I spent like forever doing this and used every type of solvent available, from nail polish remover to white spirits (would NOT recommend this, but I was desperate; if you must, make sure you work in a well ventilated area or outside). I soaked, rubbed, pulled and eventually the little plastic plate that covers the top part of the lid came of altogether, so I was able to clean the remaining lashes of. Would not recommend even trying to remove ADG Blythe lashes unless you really, really want to and than be prepared for an ordeal. Good luck!
Hi Jasmin
Just got my 1st Blythe (Urban Cowgirl) and would love to start customising my girl (slowly …).
Changing the lashes is definitely the 1st thing I would love to do!
And so far, I would like to let you know that your tutorials are very clear and well explained! GOOD JOB!
Cheers!
