Have you ever heard of Tatting?

And I was hooked! Immediately I dressed to run for a tatting needle with a frustrating result: Nobody knew what I wanted! GAH! And so I had a look for the german expression of tatting which is occhi but I had still no luck because we germans usually tat with shuttles and not a needle. ACK! Well, after some research I got tatting needles on Ebay and started right away with the great beginner tutorial of the utterly talented TotusMel on instructables. This is my first ever result (well, the first one of the lot I tried making I am not too embarrassed to show you – heeheee!):
A slightly awry daisy pendant in black! yippieh! And then I went straight on and made the TotusMel necklace for beginners:
Still slightly awry but well… I am a beginner. I love it anyway and wear it constantly (especially while my MMM 12 challenge)! When I visited my sister-in-law she begged me for the same and I remade it for her as well. Her’s is a lot better! \:D/
But I wouldn’t be the Jasz if I didn’t try to make something I drafted myself, wouldn’t I? Well, at least with my still limited tatting skills. It isn’t really an own pattern, more something I combined from what I’ve learned so far:

Look! A steal grey necklace with silver beads and the same one in purple without the beads. YAY! I am so happy I worked it out!
Next thing I want to try is the daisy edging of intatters that initialised my new tatting obsession to finish the black linen skirt. And for sure I need these Tatted Barefoot Sandals of TotusMel for summer… and hey, you bet I try to make something for Blythe, too! Maybe I start with a tiara or a “laced fringe” before going mad and making a full tatted suit or a mask maybe
Let’s see what happens!

You go girl! I actually got interested in Tatting myself, but never had the time to actually go ahead and do it… instead I started on (silk) ribbon embroidery
I still have a Tatting spool and some thread, but sold most of the books on… it’s more known as “Needle Lace”. Looking forward to seeing more, I really like the book Tatted Snowflakes and Tatted Cross-book inlays. X
